ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — An early morning vehicle fire took place in a parking lot at Mills Reservation this week, authorities said.
The fire happened around 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday at the Normal Avenue lot in the county-run park, which is located in Montclair and Cedar Grove. There were no occupants in the vehicle, which is registered in New York state, a spokesperson with the Essex County Sheriff’s Office said.
Some people reported hearing “gunshots” in the area at the time, but it was actually the car's tires popping as they became engulfed in flames, he added.
