After the wash, the driver’s side door of the Durango was left open for staff to get in. Suddenly, a black Mercedes Benz SUV with tinted windows pulled up to the car wash. A young male suspect got out, entered the Dodge Durango and drove away, police said.

Both vehicles headed east on Bloomfield Avenue. The Durango was recovered the following day in Newark, police said.
