Vehicles Illegally Entered On 3 Montclair Streets; Jeep Stolen: Police

Several motor vehicle-related crimes were recently reported in Montclair.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Several motor vehicle-related crimes were recently reported in Montclair, police announced Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about the incidents:

VEHICLES ILLEGALLY ENTERED – During the week of July 18 through July 25, vehicles were entered on Upper Mountain Avenue, Plymouth Street and Hill Top Place. In most cases, the vehicles were left unlocked. Surveillance video taken in the area of Upper Mountain Avenue showed that the masked suspects arrived in an unknown white SUV and rummaged through the vehicle for approximately 15 seconds. On Hill Top Place, the suspects entered a landscaping truck and removed the worker’s iPhone, wallet and gold necklace, police said.

STOLEN JEEP – A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from Cooper Avenue during the overnight hours on July 19. The vehicle was recovered by the NYPD the following day. Two juvenile males from Newark were arrested.
