Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey Offers Free iPhone/iPad Demonstrations for Adults Affected by Vision Loss

Demonstrations on June 15 and July 13 in Denville; Vision Loss Alliance serves residents of northern NJ and offers classes in Montclair

Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey will host free demonstrations on how iPhone and iPad technology can enhance life for adults with profound vision loss on June 15 and July 13 at its Denville location.

Vision Loss Alliance of New Jersey, one of the longest-serving nonprofits for adults with profound vision loss, designed the demonstrations to introduce individuals to the iPad and iPhone to determine if the devices could meet their needs.

“Many people don’t realize the extent of the technology available, or they may be intimidated by it,’’ said Vision Loss Alliance Senior Program Manager Linda Groszew. “The demonstrations will give people an overview of what these devices can help them accomplish.”

The demonstrations, both on Wednesdays, will be held 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 155 Morris Ave. in Denville. For more information, contact Groszew at (973) 627-0055, ext. 312 or email programs@vlanj.org.

The full 13-week technology training teaches participants how to use their devices’ accessibility features, practical functions and specialized apps to stay organized, informed and connected. Adults learn a variety of apps that help them read everything from prescription labels to books, identify colors for coordinating outfits, count money, and much more. Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes are offered.

It is part of Vision Loss Alliance’s continuum of programs that address each stage of adjustment to vision loss, teaching adults techniques to overcome challenges and promoting their emotional and physical wellness in a friendly, supportive environment.
