As Essex County gears up for the 2016 Cherry Blossom Festival, residents seeking their springtime fix have a new resource… a live feed of the trees at Branch Brook Park.

Last week, Essex County workers planted 600 new cherry blossom trees in Branch Brook Park – located in Newark and Belleville - bringing the total up to about 5,000, according to a news release.

The plantings are the latest phase of an ongoing planting initiative to replace trees that have decayed because of age or died, Essex County officials stated.
