“We are incredibly proud of everyone who came out in support of this vitally important cause,” the group said. “However, the work has only just begun. We will not stop fighting until the Reproductive Freedom Act is law and abortion access is codified into law.”

According to womensmarch.com, here's why people were marching on Saturday:

"When the Supreme Court rejected an emergency request to block Texas's abortion ban, they effectively took the next step towards overturning Roe v. Wade. Simply put: We are witnessing the most dire threat to abortion access in our lifetime. That's why we're marching in every single state and in our nation's capital, Washington D.C., on October 2 before the Supreme Court reconvenes. We need to send an unmistakable message about our fierce opposition to restricting abortion access and overturning Roe v. Wade before it's too late."

The Montclair rally saw appearances from elected officials including Gov. Phil Murphy and first lady Tammy Murphy, as well as U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, who represents the 11th district, including parts of the township.

U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez also tweeted his support of the Montclair rally.

After the Montclair rally, a wave of photos taken at the march – along with rousing statements of support – made their way onto social media.
