Yogi Berra Museum To Hold Annual Free Day: 2017 Event
The Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center will honor "baseball's winningest player" on Sept. 23.

For the third consecutive year, the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center will open its doors on Saturday, Sept. 23 to the public at no cost in honor of “baseball’s winningest player.”
According to a museum news release, from noon to 5 p.m., the museum will offer activities for the whole family, including sports trivia, crafts, team mascots, music and magicians, and food including hot dogs, tacos and ice cream. At 1 p.m., the NJ Jackals will offer a free baseball clinic in Yogi Berra Stadium for children ages 7 and older. At 2 p.m., bestselling author Marty Appel will discuss his new book, Casey Stengel: Baseball’s Greatest Character. Stengel – long-time manager of the NY Yankees – was one of Yogi’s greatest mentors (books will be available in the museum for purchase and signing).

The museum will also unveil a brand new interactive display: “The Mitt Mobile,” a mobile artifact cart featuring 16 catcher’s mitts dating from 1895 to the present. Visitors are invited to handle the vintage gloves, while learning about the evolution of mitt design as well as the history of the game itself. The Mitt Mobile was made possible by the support of Richard Macaluso, the Borman Family Foundation and the Albert Payson Terhune Foundation.
