1. New 1.31-mile Waughaw Valley Trail opens in Morris County (wrnjradio.com) — Montville residents now have a new 1.31-mile gravel Waughaw Valley Trail for hiking and biking right in the township. County and local officials cut the ribbon on the Morris County–funded project, which includes bridge crossings and expands the growing regional trail network.
   

2. More Mosquito Spraying for Montville Thurs/Fri (tapinto.net) — Mosquito control crews will be spraying wooded areas across Montville in the early morning hours over the next couple of days, weather permitting. The Morris County Mosquito Commission plans ATV treatments between 4 and 6 a.m., and residents can request service or learn more through the commission's website.
   

3. Montville Township Honors 100-Year-Old Former Volunteer Jean Ann Capozzi (tapinto.net) — Montville officials recently honored 100-year-old former resident and first aid squad volunteer Jean Ann Capozzi for her decades of service to the township. At the Aug. 18 Township Committee meeting, Mayor Frank Cooney read a proclamation celebrating her trailblazing life, from supporting Montville schools to flying planes and surviving cancer, as a packed town hall applauded.
   

4. Returning All-NJAC Field Hockey players for 2026 (nj.com subscription) — Two Montville High School standouts, senior Cameron Camaya and junior Dylan Kideckel, are among the returning All-NJAC field hockey players highlighted for the upcoming fall season. The conference-wide list, chosen by coaches, showcases top talent from Montville and neighboring schools across multiple divisions.
