Montville Students Head Back To School Thursday

MONTVILLE, NJ — Backpacks are packed, alarms are set and summer vacation is just about over for Montville students.

Montville Township Public Schools students return to classrooms Thursday for the first day of the 2026-27 school year, according to the district calendar.

School hours vary across the district. Montville Township High School runs from 7:25 a.m. to 2:10 p.m., while elementary students attend from 8:10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Robert R. Lazar Middle School's day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Thursday also marks the beginning of the first marking period for students at Lazar and Montville Township High School.

High school families have one more chance to prepare before the first bell. Montville Township High School is hosting its "Share the Keys" program Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium at 100 Horseneck Road.

Families may want to double-check transportation arrangements, schedules and opening-day instructions before students leave home.

And once Thursday morning arrives, it's officially back to the familiar rhythm of early alarms, busy hallways and another school year underway in Montville.
