MORRIS COUNTY, NJ, October 29, 2026: Ready to hit the slopes? Lakeland Hills YMCA is accepting registrations for its 2026–2027 GRIT 'n Snow Youth Resilience Series, where students in grades 3–8 learn to snowboard at Mountain Creek Resort while building confidence, developing new skills, and making lasting friendships.
With support from mentors at the Mental Health Association and Lakeland Hills YMCA, participants learn to embrace challenges, persevere through setbacks, and develop a can-do mindset. They'll fall, get back up, and leave more confident every week. That's GRIT!
The program is also supported by a grant from the New York Giants Foundation, helping make this unique youth development experience possible. Mountain Creek Resort provides additional support, including scholarships that help reduce financial barriers for participating families.
The program begins with training sessions in December at Lakeview Elementary School in Denville, followed by snowboarding trips to Mountain Creek Resort in January and February. The season concludes February 7, 2027, with a family celebration.
GRIT 'n Snow is open to students in grades 3–8 who are first- or second-year participants. The program fee is $375 per participant and includes transportation, lift tickets, snowboard equipment rentals, and lessons. Full and partial scholarships are available, and the first 10 registrants will receive a $50 discount courtesy of Mountain Creek Resort.
No previous snowboarding experience or YMCA membership is required.
Registration is now open. Families can pre-register using the following link:
