MONTVILLE, NJ — Montville Township is warning the public about a fraudulent email impersonating its Planning Board and requesting payment.
In an Oct. 30 notice, township officials said an email was sent to a resident seeking payment for allegedly outstanding invoices.
The message did not come from a verified township email address or anyone affiliated with or employed by the township, officials said.
The township urged the public to verify the source of communications requesting money.
Officials also advised people to contact the township directly using established phone numbers or email addresses to confirm suspicious correspondence.
