UPDATE: Bernstein, Rizio Take First in Two Events Each at Track Sectionals

Mustangs track is competing in the North 1, Group III sectional championships this weekend at Mahwah High School. Day one started Friday at 4 p.m., and here are some results:

• Taylor Bernstein won his second consecutive discus championship and also broke the school record with a throw of 168 feet, 9 inches.
• Julia Rizio won her first career outdoor sectional championship with a first place finish in the 100 meter dash.
• Sophomore Jared McPherson finished seventh in the 100 meter dash.

Bernstein and Rizio also placed in day two, which started at 10 a.m. on Saturday:

• Julia Rizio won the 200m dash, her second career outdoor sectional championship, only one day after winning her first.
• Taylor Bernstein broke another school record while winning his second sectional championship of the weekend in shot put with a throw of 57 feet, 11.5 inches.
• Kirsten Muhaw finished second in the pole vault.
