Are you a Hero?
Are we all heroes? This story tells you how we are all heroes. How we can make others safer, happier and healthier.

Lat month I had the honor of watching my son become an Eagle Scout. It was with great pride that I saw my son speak of how he helped the High School and all the students with his project. (He painted the Nurses office and Updated their office as well as helped make a college resource room so students could find and meet with colleges.) The one thing that struck me was one of the guest speakers got up to speak about the three young men being honored, he called them hero's! I sat there and thought, what is a hero? We picture people who are policeman or firemen, soldiers, people that risk their lives to save others as heroes. How could these young men be heroes? than I thought about it, a hero is a person who helps someone. Who has the power or the strength or the wisdom or just being in the right place at the right time to help a person get thru a tough situation. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Heroes can be a person who helps you change your tire, or a hero can be like the boy I read about who still is fighting his battle against cancer and does not give up, he is a hero to all the others fighting cancer that say to themselves, if he can do that, so can I.
A true hero is someone that saves you from danger, or from yourself. I wonder how many times I have thought of others that have helped me as a hero and I remember a lot of them. The person who helped me when I fell and was hurt. The guy who changed my tire in the puring rain when he could have passed me like many others did. The man who found my wallet and drove it to my house to return it and would not take a dime. They are all heroes. Yes, we are blessed to have so many hero's, big and small all around us. Even recently, we learned that our friends and neighbors became our hero's, to keeping us warm, getting gas or making hot meals so we could deal with the hurricane and the mess.
I know that the police, fireman, nurses, doctors, emergency medical personnel, soldiers, they are all super heroes. Than we have the everyday ordinary heroes, like the utility workers that came from all over the USA, the cable workers and phone company workers that gave us back our power and lives. They help to make our world complete.

So now that you know you can be a hero, go be one - even if it is to yourself! Go save yourself or someone you know from whatever it is that is dangerous! It could be a thought, an action or a reaction to something that is holding you back. No cape is required, no special bat phone needed. Just the belief that you are a hero...and we all are.
So get out there and shine!
