Grau and Palma Reappointed as Montville Twp BOE President and VP
At BOE Reorganization Meeting President and VP appointed unanimously. Cortellino, Modrak and Rappaport Also Take the Oath of Office.
Charles Grau and Michael Palma were unanimously reappointed to the positions of President and Vice President at the Montville Township Board of Education reorganization meeting on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Both Grau and Palma also served as President and Vice President in 2018.
Earlier in the meeting Grau was sworn in for another term on the Montville Township Board of Education after having won reelection in November. Grau and three other board members: Dr. Karen Cortellino, Dr. David Modrak and Michael Rappaport, each ran unopposed in the November election. Cortellino and Modrak each served previous elected terms. Rappaport was appointed to the BOE in 2018 after a vacancy was left when BOE member Carmela Novi stepped down. The elected officials were sworn in at the meeting by Montville Township Public Schools Business Administrator Katine Slunt.
“Thank you very much,” said Grau after his reappointment to a second term as President. “It is really a privilege to serve as your president and we will have another great year.”

Grau called Montville “an outstanding district,” noting that the strong leadership of the district’s administrators, principals, faculty, staff and students is what makes Montville Township Public Schools outstanding.
Vice President Palma also thanked his fellow board members for their support.

“I really enjoy working with all of you,” Palma said. “There are a lot of boards that don’t get along with each other. This board isn’t like that. Our strength is that we work so well together.”
The next Montville Township Public Schools Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at Montville Township High School. The public portion of the meeting begins at 7:30 and will be held in the MTHS Media Center. Montville Township Public Schools is a Pre-K to grade 12 district with seven schools in Montville, Towaco and Pine Brook, NJ. MTHS is located at 100 Horseneck Road in Montville, NJ.
