Survey: No Homework Over Vacations, Please
Parents said they wish their children didn't have homework on break.
Most parents who attended a meeting about homework wish their children didn't have homework over winter break, according to the results of a survey posted on the district website.
About 70 percent of responses from parents received at a meeting last month said parents "would like to see homework not be given over any vacations."
The survey had about 95 responses.

In response to another question about homework on weekends, about 60 percent of responses said parents "would like to see homework not be given over weekends."

- 42 percent said their children received too much homework.
- 45 percent said they had just enough homework.
- 13 percent said they had too little homework.
Superintendent Dr. Paul Fried . He said other districts have tried policies such as no homework on weekends or holidays, and setting progressive time limits for younger students. A district committee including parents and faculty is planning to see what research about homework and its effectiveness shows.
