Jewelry Stolen in 3 Morris County Home Burglaries Wednesday, Cops Say

Mendham Twp., Morris Twp. homes broken into between 5 and 10 p.m., police report.

Three homes were burglarized in Mendham Township and Morris Township Wednesday night, and police are asking residents to be on alert and remain vigilant.

Between the hours of 7 and 10 p.m. two homes in Mendham Township, approximately two miles apart on Olmstead Lane and Old Orchard Road, were broken into when no one was home, Mendham Township Lt. Ross Johnson said.

Homeowners have reported jewelry stolen from the homes where front doors were kicked in, Johnson said. Police were tipped off to one of the burglaries when the home’s alarm system activated, Johnson said.

“The assailants are looking to get in and out quickly and grab high-end items, like jewelry and electronics,” Johnson said. “These aren’t robberies. These people don’t want to be seen by anyone and are moving as quick as they can.”

Johnson said both homes are located on cul-de-sac streets.
