Mental Mistakes Plague Mustangs

Penalties wrecked Montville hockey in a 6-1 loss to West Morris Central.

In a physical game that saw 11 penalties in the second period alone, the Montville High ice hockey team fell to West Morris Central Thursday night in the Haas Cup at the Mennen Sports Complex.

Out-shot 40-16, Montville head coach Charles Fischer said his team lost its cool down the stretch.

"We still had a game going into the third," he said. "Penalties aside, it was only 2-1. Then we lost a little discipline once it started to steamroll. There were a lot of penalties. It seemed like every time we hit someone, it was a penalty."
