Montville Recreation

The Montville Recreation Department will be sponsoring SUMMER ACADEMY classes for Students ENTERING Grades 5th—8th in September 2018.

Choice/s of classes are as follows:

WRITING & READING LITERACY: This course will provide strategies for comprehending and responding to a variety of literary genre, vocabulary development, and writing styles. Focus will include PARCC prep.

MATHOLOGY: Depending upon your child’s needs, this course will cover reinforcement of basic math skills through pre-algebra. If you would like to have particular skills covered, please provide your child with a note of the skills/topics that you want him/her to cover.

ORGANIZATION and STUDY SKILLS: This course will provide the student with the necessary tools to become a more active and productive learner. Some of the topics covered will be: Test Taking Skills, Organizational Skills, Note Taking, Following Directions, Listening Skills, Time Management/Goal Setting and Reading in Content Areas.

Classes are offered Monday through Friday for 1 hour of instruction per day for a one week period. NOTE: If students take more than 1 class the information will NOT be repeated! Each student will move forward at an individual level!

Times are as follows: 9:00am to 10:00am for Writing, 10:05am to 11:05am for Math, and/or 11:10am to 12:10pm for Study Skills.

NOTE: Class times may be combined dependent upon registration.

Choice of dates for one week sessions: July 9-13 and/or July 16-20 and/or July 23-27 and/or July 30-Aug 3.

Classes are held at the Montville Community Park VFW (Sisco) House located 130 Change Bridge Road in Montville.

Programs are taught by Jacki Keiser for Writing, Kristi Viscardo for Math, and Michele Belotti for Study Skills.

The cost per person is $80.00 per one week session per subject and $65.00 for each additional class and/or session.
