LEGO ENGINEERING CAMPS - Peers, Gears & Engineers by Technology Toolbox for Grades K-5 in September

The Montville Recreation Department will be sponsoring LEGO ENGINEERING CAMPS - Peers, Gears & Engineers by Technology Toolbox for Grades K-5 in September.

Kindergarten students will have the opportunity to explore, investigate and solve problems using Levers, Gears, Pulleys and Wheels and Axles in this exciting hands-on class. We will use Lego Educational materials and curriculum designed for grades K-1 to explore Simple Machines. Projects may include: Playground equipment and Amusement park rides, Spinning toys, Cranes, Cars and Tractor Trailers!

This program will run on Tuesdays: July 9, 16, 23, 30 & August 6 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at William Mason School located at 5 Shawnee Trail in Montville.

1st & 2nd Grades - Our young Engineers will work as a team to explore, investigate and solve problems using Levers, Gears, Pulleys and Wheels and Axles in this exciting hands-on class that uses LEGO Educational materials. Children will be introduced to simple machines in each 1 hour class. Projects may include: Excitement on an amusement park ride, Driving a tractor on wiggle highway, a day at the Quarry, and Catapult Wars!!!

This program will run on Wednesdays: July 10, 17, 24, 31 & August 7 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at William Mason School located at 5 Shawnee Trail in Montville.

3rd to 5th Grades - Our older students will follow the Lego Education MAKER curriculum. This open-ended, challenge-based class will explore different problems, include brainstorming and implementing creative problem solving skills to produce one of a kind creations. Objects built may include: Digital accessories, a Sloth car, Mechanical toy animals, & Household helpers.

This program will run on Thursdays: July 11, 18, 25, August 1 & 8 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Lazar Middle School located at 123 Change Bridge Road in Montville.
