Montville Resident Helps Nonprofit Achieve its Goals
President and CEO of Valley National Bank Ira Robbins Provides JVS with Significant Contribution

Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest New Jersey (JVS) recently held its annual Taste & Toast gala to recognize local community leaders who provide vital support that enables the Livingston and East Orange-based nonprofit organization to fulfill its mission of “Helping People Help Themselves.” This year, more than $25,000 was raised during the event itself and matched, dollar-for-dollar, by presenting sponsor Valley National Bank, thanks to JVS Board member and Valley National Bank President/CEO Ira Robbins of Montville. The funds will be used to acquire and operate a van that will transport JVS clients to and from internships and volunteer positions at businesses and community-based organizations located throughout Essex County.
Overall, the gala broke both attendance and fundraising records by attracting more than 300 attendees and generating more than $400,000 in corporate sponsorships and charitable donations. Each year, JVS provides more than 2,000 people with the tools and training necessary to help them secure and maintain gainful employment. JVS’ diverse clientele includes immigrants and refugees; adults with physical, mental and developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder; military veterans; and job-seekers, including recent college graduates and adults 50+ looking to make a career transition.
