Montville: Return To School Survey Available In Genesis Parent Portal

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Due to the power outage from tropical storm Isiasis, the Board meeting planned for August 4th was postponed. We hope to reschedule the meeting as soon as possible, but as of this morning, 97% of Montville Township is without power. At the meeting, our hope is to provide an overview of the plan, listen to comments from the public, answer questions and ultimately have the Board of Education take action and adopt the plan. A link to the plan is available on the district website at https://www.montvilletwpps.nj.schools.bz/Content2/1266.

The New Jersey Department of Education has provided direction to all public school districts that a “full-time remote” option must be offered for September 2020. The specifics of this option are outlined in the plan. Any students who are unable to wear face coverings due to medical reasons are strongly encouraged to select the full-time remote option for their own personal health and safety and for the health and safety of their teachers and classmates.

It is important to note that any changes between in-person or full-time remote learning can only happen at the start of a marking period. Parents will have one week to make their selection for September. This selection must be made in the Genesis Parent Portal between August 5 and August 12, 2020 at midnight. Any student without a parental selection in the Genesis Parent Portal will be scheduled as an in-person student.

I recognize that some of you may want to wait until after the Board meeting to complete the survey but many of you have already made your decisions about in-person or full-time remote instruction for your child(ren). The survey is currently open and will be open through August 12th.

Class assignments and other information regarding the start of the school year will be shared with parents in late August.
