Montville Schools Open Guaranteed Window For Subscription Busing

MONTVILLE, NJ — Montville Township Public Schools has opened its guaranteed enrollment window for subscription busing for the 2026-2027 school year, with applications accepted through Friday, June 19.

Applications submitted during the open enrollment period, which began June 1, are guaranteed consideration, according to the district. Requests received after June 19 will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on seat availability.

The service costs $435 per student in grades K-5 and $550 per student in grades 6-12 — up from $375 and $475 — with the district noting that 2026-2027 fees reflect increased fuel costs.

Subscription busing is available to students in grades K-12 who do not qualify for mandated transportation. Students do not qualify for mandated busing if they live 2 miles or less from school for grades K-8, or 2.5 miles or less for grades 9-12, with mileage measured by the shortest route along public roadways. All students in a subscription area must complete the application, either applying for or declining the service.

Applications are available in Genesis Parent Access, with payment accepted by check, cash or MySchoolBucks. Checks should be made payable to the Montville Township Board of Education and mailed or dropped off at the board office at 86 River Road, attention: Transportation.

The district notes that all costs cover round trips only, registration is for the full year with no refunds, there are no family discounts, existing bus stops will be used, and a new application is required each school year. Space cannot be guaranteed if payment — including check clearance — is not received by the deadline.

Parents who do not use subscription busing in a subscription area are responsible for providing their own transportation.
