STEP (Standing Together for Educational Progress), a grassroots parents organization formed in the wake of the 2010 defeated school budget, partnered up with Montville High School senior class President Justin Citron to organize a voter registration drive aimed at seniors.
The program, titled “Rock the Vote” extended homeroom on Match 30 so that any senior eligible to vote could be registered in school, bringing voting to students who may not have otherwise registered.
“As an American citizen, it feels great to finally be of age to vote,” student Robert Tancer, one of the students registered through the “Rock the Vote” program. “It's thrilling to finally be part of the voting group.”

Members of STEP believe that, because students are proponents of the school budget, a large turnout among 18-year-old students on April 27 could help get the 2011-2012 budget to pass.
