Networking Event To Focus On Female Entrepreneurs

B.I.G, a business support group aimed at providing women with a platform for entrepreneurial ideas and development, is holding an open networking event at the Montville Inn this Tuesday, August 10.

According to Lisa Carver, Montville pod leader for B.I.G, two women started the company last year with a focus on supporting women with entrepreneurial goals. Since its inception, the company has expanded to 350 members in 20 locations across New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

"We target women who are looking to return to the workforce," she said. "Women with a great idea but who are unsure of how to take the next step. We focus on women empowering women back into the workforce."

Carver explained that B.I.G, which stands for "believe, inspire, grow," establishes "pods" in communities across the state that aim to bring women together on a local level through monthly meetings focused on an exchange of ideas and information for women on ways to establishes themselves from a business perspective.

"This is truly an entrepreneur group," she said. "Maybe you have an idea and there is a woman across the table with a specific skill. We aim to bring these women together."

Carver says that the event on Tuesday, August 10, is different from the group's usual monthly meetings, as it is focused purely on networking. While membership in B.I.G a $19.95 monthly membership fee and includes access to monthly meetings, the networking event at the Montville Inn is free to all, serving as a means to bring area women together while introducing the organization to those who may not be aware of it.

"It's good for the members as means of networking, but its also good for people who have never heard of B.I.G," she said. "This gives people a chance to come and see what we're all about."

The event will is set to run from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Montville Inn and will feature pod members from Montville, Morristown, Sparta, Short Hills, Livingston, Wayne and Paramus.
