Open to the Public! #ArtInTheHalls! Gallery Features Student Work

Montville Township Public Schools' Offices Displays Exceptional Student Art. Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 3:30.

Every month, on or about the first of the month, a new exhibit of outstanding artwork goes on display at Montville Township Public Schools’ main offices. Open to the public, the initiative, known as #ArtInTheHalls, showcases extraordinary works from students in Montville Township’s seven public schools.

On Display now through the beginning of March are works from over two dozen artists in grades 6, 7 and 8 at Robert R. Lazar Middle School. Under the guidance of Fine Arts faculty member Michele Silva, Lazar students have the opportunity to explore working with various media while learning the elements of art and principles of design. Several of their creations have recently been installed in the #ArtInTheHalls gallery at 86 River Road in Montville, New Jersey.
Not only does Silva prepare student work for public display at the district’s #ArtInTheHalls gallery, but she also regularly posts student pieces on artsonia, a website which is known as: “The World’s Largest Student Art Museum.”

“Students are involved with drawing, painting, sculpting and printmaking,” said Silva of her classes. “Through these lessons, students also have the opportunity to learn about various artists.”
The #ArtInTheHalls gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from October through May.
