Moms, Girls, And Their Dolls Are Invited To American Girl Cafe At Montville HS

Luncheon will benefit the Class of 2016.

Girls are invited to come out and party with moms and dolls – Pajama Party, that is -- during the 4th annual American Girl Doll Café at Montville Township High School.

Hosted by the MTHS Class of 2016, this delightful day for girls, dolls, moms and grandmas includes lunch, dessert, a visit to the hair salon for girls and dolls, crafts, a photo booth for capturing memories, favors, prizes, and a raffle of the American Girl Doll, Grace Thomas.

Daughters, dolls, moms, grandmas, aunts and cousins are invited to join in the PJ Party fun at the fall MTHS American Girl Doll Café event. The party will be held on Nov. 21 and benefit the MTHS Class of 2016. In June, the 295 seniors will graduate.

Adults, children and dolls will be seated at a table where each doll will have her own special chair. Customized menus will allow diners to choose the perfect entrée for the afternoon’s meal. Moms will delight in watching daughters and dolls playing together at the many activities. The MTHS Class of 2016 has thought of every detail for a girl’s special day out with her American Girl Doll and mom.

The beloved benefit brunch traditionally sells out early. Tickets are on sale now and will be available through Nov. 4 or until every seat is sold.

Over 165 girls and their dolls attended last year. In addition, 145 moms and grandmas were served.

“The lunch served by the Class of 2016 is delicious, and the craft project is always fun and creative,” said Sheila Gudis, a Speech Pathologist in Montville Township Public Schools.

Gudis has attended two of the past American Girl Doll Café fundraisers held at MTHS. Her daughter, Allison Gudis Jackson, granddaughter, Ava Jackson, and Ava’s American Girl Doll, travel to Montville from Greenwich CT to “enjoy this special day,” Gudis said.

“I like spending time with my family there,” seven-year-old Ava explained. ”I like the craft, and it’s fun to see all the girls with their dolls. It’s a special day for me to be with my Mimi [Gudis] and I like sitting next to my doll at lunch. She has a seat made just for her!”

“All the girls really like that the dolls have their own seats and are served their own food,” noted Gudis. “It’s really cute.”

This year, in order to meet the growing demand, the MTHS Class of 2016 has increased the number of seatings from four to five. About 40 girls and their dolls and moms can attend each seating.

The American Girl Doll Café is organized and run by more than 40 volunteers, including over 30 students from the Class of 2016. Last year the event raised $6,000. Proceeds from the Café will help offset the costs of the MTHS Class of 2016’s senior banquet and prom.

The American Girl Doll Café Fall Pajama Party event will be held at the MTHS cafeteria. Five lunch seatings will be held. The meal includes an appetizer, entrée, beverage and dessert. Tickets are currently available for the 10:30 a.m. and 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 p.m. seatings. The 11:30 a.m. seating is sold-out. The cost is $30 for girls with their dolls and $10 for mom or grandma.

Activities for girls and dolls are included in the ticket price. For reservations please mail your check to Dana Bertoli, MTHS Class of 2016 Advisor, 100 Horseneck Road, Montville, NJ 07045, or contact Bertoli for information at Dana.Bertoli@montville.net.
