Cops release sketch of alleged serial robbery suspect.

Montclair township police are seeking a suspect in connection with a series of robberies that took place in the township from Feb. 24 to Feb. 28.

Police stated the man is also a suspect in robberies in surrounding towns.

According to police, the man is wanted in connection with three separate Montclair robberies. Reports stated that the suspect fled from the scene empty-handed on two occasions, and only one of the three incidents in Montclair involved a weapon: a black handgun.

On Monday, the MPD released a composite sketch of the suspect (see above). Anyone with information should contact the police department at 973-744-1234.

Police stated that the suspect is wanted in connection with the following Montclair crimes:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 24, 9 a.m., All Pro Cleaners on Grove Street: “Suspect entered the business and demanded that the female employee hand over cash from the register. The suspect is described as a white male, 21-25yoa, 5’10” in height, slim build, green eyes. He was wearing a green jacket and a black wool hat. No weapon mentioned or shown. When the suspect observed that there was a second employee in the store, he fled north on Grove Street. There were no proceeds.”
  • Thursday, Feb. 26, 3:46 p.m., Mountainside Hospital Parking Deck on Sherwood Street: “A Bloomfield man was the victim of an armed robbery on the fourth level of the parking structure. As the victim was walking to his vehicle he was approached by a male suspect who stated, “I don’t want to hurt you, I just need cash”. The victim handed the suspect approximately $70 in cash. This suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a white male, 25-35yoa, 5’9”-5’11” in height. He was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt with a dark gray scarf covering his face. No weapon was shown. No injuries reported.”
  • Saturday, Feb. 28, 5:31 a.m., Shell Gas Station on Bloomfield Avenue: “The [gas station] was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’7’ in height, 150lbs, thin build, wearing a green army jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt, and a dark scarf covering his face. This suspect brandished a black handgun and demanded money from the register. When the employee hesitated in opening the register, this suspect put the weapon away and walked out of the store. There were no proceeds in this incident.”
