Register Your Child For Kindergarten In Montville

Children who turn five on or before Oct. 1, 2017 are encouraged to enroll.

MONTVILLE, NJ— Registration for kindergarten in Montville Township public schools for the 2017-18 school year is now open. Any student who turns 5 on or before Oct. 1, 2017 is eligible for kindergarten.

Parents have to complete two parts to register: an online portion and an in-person portion. After the online portion, incoming students have to undergo an hour-long screening.

The screening is to give teachers an idea of the students developmental level. At the screening, children speak to teachers, has their picture taken, and some a few simple tasks. It isn't a test, and children don't need to prepare for it.

Parents are encouraged to complete online registration before Feb. 28. This will allow time for parents to then call the school, make an appointment, and complete in-person registration before kindergarten screening at their child’s school begins.

During the screening, parents and students can tour the school.
