Rockaway Valley Road Closes: What To Know
Roadwork is expected to continue for weeks, with through traffic closed during work hours.
MONTVILLE, NJ — Drivers who rely on Rockaway Valley Road for their weekday routines will need to plan alternate routes through town when NJ Gas utility work is set to close a stretch of the road.
Work is expected to run Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., between Kingsland Road and Powerville Road. According to a Montville Township Police Department Facebook post and an alert, work is scheduled Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The department said the work is expected to last until mid-November.

The notices said no through traffic will be permitted to travel through the work zone. Residents will be allowed to reach their homes, and school buses will also be permitted through. Montville Township police said officers will be on scene while the work is underway.
Boonton Township also announced a notice that says a detour will be in place during active work hours and the road will be fully open when crews are not working. Drivers can check the detour map before heading out when planning their weekday trips.
