Video: Dance Lessons at the Fred Astaire Studio (Or 'Never Pass on an Opportunity to Make a Fool of Yourself')
Editor proves that, with the right teachers, anyone can dance.
With my two left feet and an elephantine frame, dancing does not come naturally to me. When I won a free dance lesson from the Fred Astaire dance studio in Montville a few weeks back, my initial reaction was to throw it away and never speak of it again. Upon further reflection, however, I recalled some words of wisdom my father imparted on me: Never pass on an opportunity to make a fool of yourself.
If I expected the worst going into the lesson, I came out feeling confident and downright pleased in my ability to not crush someone's feet or flail spastically on the dance floor. Much of my newfound confidence is due to some very supportive teachers over at the Fred Astaire studio, who not only didn't make fun of my Frankenstein shuffling but were patient and fun to work with.
Check out the video to see them in action, as well as my newfound fancy feet.
