2 Ford Hybrids Added To Moorestown Police Vehicle Fleet
They were among four hybrids Moorestown Council approved for purchase to be used by police back in March.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown police recently deployed two 2020 Ford Utility Hybrid vehicles, the police department announced on social media. The vehicles were specifically built to handle the rigors of police work, according to the police department.
“Testing by Ford has shown the vehicles have improved performance and power, but with significant fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions making them more environmentally friendly,” police said.

They are two of four hybrid vehicles approved for purchase to be used by the police department back in March for $207,538.89. They were purchased under a program that replaces vehicles that have reached the end of their useful life as front line vehicles. "The vehicles are expected to save fuel and could extend the life of the gasoline engines as they will shut off when stopped at incidents,” Moorestown Police Chief Lee Lieber said at the time. “They will still be able to support emergency lights, A/C and technology (computers, radios, etc.) utilized daily by officers."
