2016 Summer Olympics: Moorestown Native to Compete in Women's Eight

Moorestown, NJ -- Lauren Schmetterling began rowing with the Moorestown Rowing Club in 2003, and is looking for her career highlight this summer.
Schmetterling will will compete in the Women’s Eight rowing event at the Summer Olympics in Rio next month.
She will join coxswain Katelin Snyder, 2008 and 2012 Olympian Eleanor Logan, Amanda Elmore, Tessa Gobbo, 2012 Olympian Meghan Musnicki, Emily Regan, Amanda Polk and Kerry Simmonds.

The 28-year-old Moorestown High School graduate has been on the national team for three years, and is coached by Tom Terhaar. She is training in Princeton.
She set a world record of five minutes, 54.16 seconds final in the eight at the 2013 World Rowing Cup 3, according to usrowing.org.

She’s won nine gold medals internationally.
The summer games run from Aug. 5-21.
