20th Anniversary Season Underway At Moorestown Theater Company
The theater company performed their interpretation of "Disney's The Lion King Kids" several times this week.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The 20th season of the Moorestown Theater Company is accompanied by a roar, some might say perhaps literally and figuratively.
The organization's first summer stage show, which began on Tuesday, was "The Lion King Kids," Mark Morgan, Founding Producing Artistic Director of the Moorestown Theater Company, told Patch.
The production is part of the theater company's effort to perform 44 performances of seven shows in 53 days, he said.

Such a hectic schedule would not be possible without lots of help, he added.
"It is a team effort — there would be no way for multiple people doing multiple shows at once [otherwise]. We couldn't do without the great staff we have and with the kids for our shows," Morgan said. "We get a little insane and crazy. I don't know of any other theater company in this area, trying to do the same schedule we do."

Other productions this year include versions of "Les Miserables" and "The Sound of Music," according to Morgan.
"We purposely picked bigger shows," he said. "We want to celebrate recovery ... and bring the audience back," he said.
Theater operations are slowly returning to what they were before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Morgan.
"It's nice to be back in a space where we don't have to bring the tech [equipment] in and out at the end of the day like we do when we're outside," he said.
The significance of the theater company reaching the big 2-0, especially when some of those years fell during the COVID-19 pandemic, was not lost on Morgan.
"Some theater companies start, stop and don't last very long," he said. "We're still an infant
compared to some of the other theater companies in Burlington County that have been around for 40,60, 70 years."
A full schedule of events and ticket information is available at https://www.moorestowntheatercompany.org/, Morgan said.
