$4.55M Awarded For New Trail Projects Throughout NJ
Hiking trails and parks near the Delaware River are set to get upgrades.
MOUNT HOLLY, NJ — A variety of trails and at least one bridge will be constructed throughout New Jersey with the help of $4.55 million that was approved by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission Board.
The "Circuit Trails" network brings together Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey communities.
Under the Regional Trails Program, the funding is being used to take projects from planning and design all the way through construction.

A total of $1.48 million will go towards initiatives in Burlington, Camden, and Mercer Counties:
- Rancocas Creek Greenway ($85,000 will go towards assessing the feasibility and alignment between Rowan College of Burlington County and Smithville Park, and a connecting trail between Mount Holly and Medford)
- Southern Regional Trails-Rowan College of Burlington County to Levin Nature Preserve ($400,000 will go towards an off-road trail from Rowan College to Levin Nature Preserve and Hartford Elementary School)
- Delaware River Heritage Trail-Baldwin's Run ($400,000 will go towards designing an area of the trail between 29th Street and 36th Street.
- Delaware & Bound Brook Trail ($200,000 will go towards assessing the feasibility of the trail between the Trenton Wellness Loop and the municipal border with Ewing Township)
- Mercer County Cross Country Trail-Western Connector ($400,000 will go towards a bridge over the Shabakunk Creek and adjacent trail areas between the Johnson Trolley Trail and the Lawrence Nature Center and Drexel Woods.
The Circuit Trails is one of the largest trail networks in the United States.

Officials are working to build an 850-mile connected system that grows transportation options, boosts local economies, and improves the health of residents.
