7 Moorestown Friends School Seniors Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program

Seven Moorestown Friends School seniors were recently named as a Commended Student in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. The honored students are: Travis Benedict (Willingboro), Alden Dunham (Medford), Alexandra Katsnelson (Cherry Hill), Samuel Milligan (Cherry Hill), Joshua Murdy (Hainesport), Julian Perkowski (Lumberton), and Natalia Queenan (Mount Laurel).

They were among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2016 competition by taking the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

The seniors are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise and each senior received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program.

Although the seven students will not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, they are being congratulated for their outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.

“The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” National Merit Scholarship Program officials said. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
