Addiction Support Group Meets In Moorestown Thursday Night

The meeting is at the Burlington County Agricultural Center Farmhouse.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The first in a series of monthly meetings to help Burlington County residents cope with the effects of addiction is set for Thursday night, July 20, in Moorestown.

The county and Ashley Addiction Treatment will kick off their Parent & Family Connection meeting series at the Burlington County Agricultural Center Farmhouse, 500 Centerton Road in Moorestown, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

“These meetings will offer a safe and professionally-facilitated resource for parents, guardians, and other family members that have a child or other loved one in recovery or in active addiction,” Burlington County Freeholder Linda Hughes said. “ … By providing an intimate environment where residents can connect with resources and other members of the community, it is our goal to continue to end the stigma that surrounds addiction. We want everyone to know that if you are battling addiction in Burlington County there are resources and support available for you.”

Rich Sockriter, MS, LPC, LCADC, will lead the meeting. Sockriter is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 25 years of clinical and executive experience in inpatient, outpatient, and community health.

“The meetings will help navigate sensitive topics such as supporting children without enabling them, focusing on your personal recovery and signs that your child is using again,” Hughes said. “Other topics include recovery support and resources outside of the Ashley Parent & Family Connection group, what to do if your child stops going to recovery-based activities, and how to handle a crisis.”
