Affordable Housing, Strawbridge Lake On Tap For Council

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown Council will hold public hearings and hold final votes on issues impacting affordable housing, Strawbridge Lake and a heavy flooding area Monday night. Moorestown Council will meet on Monday night, Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m. at town hall, 111 West Second Street. The official action meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.

Council will consider two pieces of legislation on second reading concerning the proposed affordable housing complex on Harper Drive, near the Moorestown Mall.

The first is a bond ordinance appropriating $1,835,000, including the borrowing of $1,743,000 in bonds or notes, for the purchase of the property. This proposal simply puts the funding in place for the purchase. The second would authorize the actual purchase of the property.

They were both passed on introduction on Nov. 18, the same night Moorestown Council gave final approval to a proposed ordinance to re-zone 307 Harper Drive, located at the corner of Harper Drive and East Gate Drive, to allow for the multiple-family affordable housing complex. Council will also consider a proposal on second reading to set aside $100,000, including the borrowing of $95,000 in bonds or notes, for preliminary expenses for engineering and design to improve storm water drainage issues in the area of Kenilworth Avenue, Locust Street and Park Boulevard. The final public hearing and second reading concerns a proposal to to set aside $420,000 and borrow $399,000 in bonds or notes for various improvements along Strawbridge Lake. Read more here: Moorestown Sets Sights On Strawbridge Lake Improvements
