BURLINGTON CITY, NJ — The "Second Saturday" series of free art and entertainment offerings is back in Burlington City.
All ages are invited out for a day filled with all-free classes and presentations presented by the Arts Guild of New Jersey and Burlington City Arts Collaborative.
In August, the fun starts on Friday with an evening of creativity, connection, and healing at the "Art Supports Recovery" session for women.
The themes of resilience and showcasing the strength in each person's unique voice will take center stage in a host of activities that may include mixed media journaling, painting, storytelling, and mindfulness-based art.
"Art Supports Recovery For Women" is from 6 to 8 p.m. at 400 High St. (Suite B).
Saturday
The "Art Supports Autism" musical basketball activity begins at 10 a.m. for the first of two sessions during the day. Guests will decorate their own basketballs with markers and stickers before taking part in the music-filled contest.
Musical basketball will take place again at 12:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at 400 High St. (Suite B).
The "We Are Still Here" informative and interactive discovery quest brings together the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal National and The Museum of Indian Culture in an afternoon of speakers, music, dancing, and other activities.
Join in on the fun from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Burlington Quaker Meeting House, located at 340 High St.
Hours of free art-class offerings will take place at "The Dime" (351 High St., Second Floor) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The workshops are designed for visitors ages 16 and older and require pre-registration for both blocks of time.
Both sessions are currently filled but may release openings upon any cancelations.
Second Saturdays is supported by funding from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority's Activation, Revitalization, and Transformation Phase II Grant Program.
