Chemical Supply Business Catches Fire In South Jersey, Officials Say

MEDFORD, NJ — Environmental health specialists and cleanup crews are working to decontaminate a building that caught fire with medical chemicals inside on Monday, the Medford Township Police Department said.

At around 7 p.m., officers were joined by fire and EMS crews as they responded to Laboratory Disposable Products at 16 Evesboro-Medford Road for a fire alarm and reports of smoke leaving the building.

Fire crews found a heavy smoke condition inside with no active fire.

The building's fire suppression system had already activated.

A group of medical chemicals was inside at the time of the fire, and led to a response from Burlington County hazmat crews.

The exposure was kept to the warehouse and there was no threat to the area around the building, according to officials.

The cause of the fire is still under review.

Laboratory Disposable Products is a wholesale distributor of solutions, glassware, safety equipment, and other accessories to pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and educational institutions.
