BORDENTOWN, NJ — A 13-year-old girl was hit by a pickup truck while she was riding an electronic scooter (e-scooter) and trying to cross a road on Friday afternoon, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said.
At around 2:30 p.m., officers responded to 500 Route 130. The Bordentown Township Police Department asked drivers to avoid the area near Burlington Road as emergency responders worked the scene.
The road was closed in both directions for hours.
"I saw two little girls about to cross the street at the red light; they had the right of way," Bordentown Township resident Nathan McMahon, told ABC, "The guy came out and literally said, 'I wasn't looking; I don't know what happened.' I sat there with him to make sure he didn't go anywhere until the cops got there."
Officials confirmed to Patch that the driver did stop and is being interviewed.
The girl was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
