2nd Arson Arrest After String Of Wildfires In Same Burlington Co. Location

2 teenage boys have been charged, and police are still seeking additional suspects.

EVESHAM, NJ — A second teenage boy was charged with arson Wednesday after authorities say he helped start a wildfire in Evesham.

Police continue to seek additional suspects who contributed to the township's recent string of forest fires.

He and another boy, who was arrested two weeks ago, started a fire Oct. 30 that consumed 52 acres of land and threatened 15 homes around Sycamore Drive, police said.

Crews contained the fire, and no homes were damaged.

The suspects — both 14-year-old boys from Marlton — have each been charged with aggravated arson and causing or risking widespread injury or damage. Both are second-degree offenses.

Police withheld their names because they are minors.

Another wildfire burned in the same area Nov. 7, consuming 375 acres. Authorities are investigating whether the incidents are connected.

The suspects were both placed in the Middlesex Juvenile Detention Center, pending initial court appearances.
