Armed Man Caused School Lockdown, Carried Bank-Robbery Note In BurlCo: Police

He carried a demand note in his pocket but left the bank without making a threat, authorities said.

MAPLE SHADE, NJ — A man entered a Maple Shade bank Wednesday with a demand note in his pocket, officials said. Although Tymir Stevenson left without incident, he later threw his gun near a school and prompted a lockdown, according to police.

Police responded to Wells Fargo Bank that afternoon for an abandoned 911 call. Bank employees reported a person walking "suspiciously" outside the bank, police said.

The man — later identified as Stevenson — entered the bank while wearing a hood and face mask, the workers told police. He asked to cash a check but left before any transaction.

Officers found Stevenson walking in a neighborhood near the bank. When they tried to stop him, he ran away and later displayed a handgun, police said.

Stevenson threw the firearm on a property across the street from Steinhauer Elementary School, authorities said. Officers immediately recovered the gun. During the search for Stevenson, the school was placed in lockdown and police established a perimeter.
