Attempted Murder Charge For Man Who Beat Mother With Rock: Burlington Co. Police

Officers arrested the man in Pennsylvania earlier this week after finding his 75-year-old mother unconscious.

EVESHAM, NJ — A Marlton man now faces attempted murder charges for beating his 75-year-old mother in the head with a landscaping rock and causing severe injuries, police said.

Evesham Police say the charge against 43-year-old Lawrence Y. Kim has been upgraded after continuing investigation by the township Investigative Bureau and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

Evesham officers arrested Kim in Pennsylvania with the help of Lower Merion Police, the department said earlier this week.

Officers responded to a Marlton home on Monday for a reported assault, and found a 75-year-old woman unconscious, "with severe injuries to her head." First responders transported the woman from the Woodlake Drive residence to Cooper University Hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition as of Tuesday.

"The investigation determined that the female sustained her injuries as a result of a physical assault, she was beaten with a landscaping rock," Evesham Police said in a news release. "The investigation identified the suspect, as the biological son of the victim."

Burlington County Jail records do not list Kim as in custody yet. He was arrested in Bryn Mawr, Pa., officials said.
