Bela Delvadia Named Moorestown Student Citizen of the Year

She will be honored during a banquet on Feb. 3.

Moorestown, NJ -- Bela Delvadia has been named Moorestown’s Student Citizen of the Year, the Moorestown Service Clubs announced Tuesday morning.

She will be honored during a dinner at the Moorestown Community House on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, 6 p.m. Tickets are $55 and can be purchased at the Community House or The First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown.

Delvadia is a senior at Moorestown High School. She is the captain of the girls golf team, secretary of the Honor and Service Society, and in the top 10 percent of her class academically.

Additionally, she has volunteered her time each summer working for the children’s department at the Moorestown library.

Throught the Interact Club, she has volunteered over 600 hours at many community events such as Acapella for Autism, Soup for the Soul, Book Fairs, and the Special Education Advisory Council (SPEAC). Additionally, she co-created a shoe drive to send gently used shoes to families in Haiti through the Souls 4 Soles Organization.

She has also travelled abroad to participate in service projects.

In 2010, she raised around $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, while summiting Mount Kilimanjaro.

In the summer of 2014, Bela went on a service trip to Peru with the World Challenge organization to help provide aid in remote villages.

She returned to Peru this past summer. She spent three weeks on a medical mission with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She traveled through the Amazon providing care to patients along side physicians and medical students.

Currently, she is a volunteer with the local Emergency Medical Squad and intends to pursue a career in medicine.

She will be honored at the same event in which Dr. Jonathan Miller will be recognized as the Moorestown Citizen of the Year.
