Blood Drives, Food Classes: Moorestown Monday Manual

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Welcome to the May 2 edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight important events coming up this week in Moorestown.

On Monday, two blood drives take place. The first, sponsored by Burlington County, occurs at the Burlington County Human Services Building from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The second, sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey, takes place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Maple Shade Municipal Complex.

On Monday at 7 p.m., Moorestown Public Library puts on a panel discussion titled Information Culture – The Impact of Mis- and Dis-Information in our Community. The event will explore how “sometimes information can either bring us together or seemingly create deep divides.”

On Tuesday, two different events related to preparing and making food are taking place at the Burlington County Agricultural Center. One is titled "Pop-Up Mozzarella from Scratch" and the other is called "The Secret to Cooking Grass-Fed Meat." Both events start at 6 p.m.

On Thursday, the Moorestown Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Discussion and possible action on proposed subdivisions for properties located on Garwood Road, Deer Rest Road, Mount Laurel Road and Quakerbridge Court are on the agenda.

On Friday at 7:30 p.m., the Moorestown Community Band puts on a free concert titled Springing Back With Music. The event, conducted by L. Bruce Smith and being held at William Allen Middle School, will have a variety of songs including marches, medleys, musicals and rock numbers.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Moorestown Public Library hosts an on-site Aucuba Japonica Gardening Project for children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. An Aucuba Japonica, for those who do not know, is also known as a spotted laurel and is a rounded, shade-loving, evergreen shrub.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. the Perkins Center for the Arts hosts an on-site event titled Kids Stand Up! This workshop shows children ways “to summon the courage to stand up to bullying and unkind actions to help create a more peaceful and just community for themselves and others.”
