Building Excellence Referendum is Tuesday in Moorestown
The public is asked to vote on two bond proposals between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sept. 30, Brandon Pugh reminds residents in his monthly column.

It is hard to believe that we are already three weeks into the 2014-2015 school year. The month of September has been busy with back to school nights, bond referendum presentations, and several exciting events, among other items.
The Board of Education gave another presentation on the Building Excellence Referendum at its September meeting. The referendum takes place next Tuesday, Sept. 30, 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. There are two bond proposals.
I encourage you to visit the district’s referendum webpage for more information, including polling locations, specific projects and associated costs, and various presentations.

Several people have asked me if this is when the public votes for Board of Education candidates. It is important to note that this will NOT occur in September, bur rather during the general election on Nov. 4.
I would like to call attention to three special activities that took place in the district this month. First, the Moorestown “Back to School” Obstacle Run on Sept. 7 was a huge success.

This race surpassed expectations, as it had over 300 participants and generated over $10,000 for the district.
Second, on Sept. 12 at the first home football game, Mary McCarthy Stefano, a MHS graduate, was recognized for her outstanding lacrosse achievements. Stefano is a member of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Third, the Moorestown Tree Planting and Preservation Committee in partnership with the New Jersey Tree Foundation and Ikea, planted 10 donated trees along the Moorestown High School practice fields on Westfield Road.
I had the pleasure of joining about 50 other volunteers to plant the trees, including MHS students, staff, and community volunteers.
There are several events of note scheduled for October.
The Moorestown Education Foundation will be holding their 19th annual Golf Outing on Oct. 6 at Laurel Creek Country Club.
Autumn in Moorestown Day will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11 on Main Street, and MoorArts will have a student art exhibit during the festival.
Oct. 12th will be the Sean Fischel Connect 5K & Fun Run. Contact flholmgren@yahoo.com for more information.
Two new websites were recently launched by organizations affiliated with the district, including the Moorestown Home and School Association (www.moorestownhomeandschool.com), and the Moorestown Education Foundation (www.moorestowneducationfoundation.org).
The next regular Board of Education meeting will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 pm, in the William Allen Middle School media center. As always, do not hesitate to reach out to either the board as a whole, or myself, if you have any questions or need anything. I would be delighted to hear from you, and I hope to see you at a future meeting.
