Burlington Co. Memorial Day Event Held Monday

The county will hold its annual Memorial Day commemoration in Burlington Township.

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Burlington County's Memorial Day event begins at 11 a.m. on Monday at Veterans Memorial Park in Burlington Township, the county said.

The event includes a wreath-laying, remarks from Burlington County Commissioner Dan O'Donnell and a keynote address from Maj. Gen. Mark D. Camerer, Commander of the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, according to the county.

Burlington County holds its Memorial Day ceremony every May 30 "in recognition of the holiday’s origin in 1868 when General John A. Logan, a leader of Northern Civil War veterans, first called for a national day of remembrance for those who died in defense of the country," the county said.
