Burlington County Man Found Shot to Death in Car: Police

The body of James Dewyer was discovered Sunday afternoon.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in which a 68-year-old man was found shot to death in a car in Mansfield Township on Sunday, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi and Mansfield Township Police Chief Ronald Mulhall said on Monday.

Officers found James Dewyer dead inside of his silver Dodge Avenger from an apparent shooting while checking on a parked car in Monica Court at around 4:15 p.m.

An autopsy of his body was scheduled for Monday.

Dewyer had a last known legal address of Linden Road in Burlington Township, but has not lived in that location for a few years. Police believe he has changed addresses several times since then, and may have even lived in area motels.

The case is being investigated by detectives from the Mansfield Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.
