Burlington County Nursing Home Coronavirus Cases, Deaths Released

Fifty-six percent of Burlington County's coronavirus deaths are associated with the county's nursing facilities, state officials said.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Eleven long-term care facilities in Burlington County have had at least one patient who died of complications from the new coronavirus, and nine facilities have had more than 10 positive cases of the virus.

Those are some of the numbers revealed Monday when the New Jersey Department of Health released information on all nursing facilities in New Jersey that have reported at least one case of the coronavirus.

There are 1,687 cases of the coronavirus countywide, with 62 deaths and 133 residents cleared from quarantine in Burlington County as of Monday. Seventeen of the county’s nursing homes have recorded outbreaks of the coronavirus, with 412 total cases, accounting for 24 percent of the total cases in the county.

There have been 35 deaths associated with long-term care facilities, accounting for 56 percent of the county’s total deaths. Four percent of all county residents who have tested positive for the coronavirus — both in nursing homes and outside nursing homes — have died.

The state Department of Health reported 43 county facilities have reported at least one patient has tested positive for the coronavirus. The listing comes after weeks of requests for the information and repeated warnings from the state to the owners and managers of long-term care facilities about their need to report that information to patients, employees and patients' families, Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said Monday.

There were 88,806 people who have tested positive for the coronavirus across New Jersey as of Monday, and 4,377 of them have died, according to the state health department. Read more: NJ Coronavirus Updates: Here's What You Need To Know

The list of facilities was provided by the state Department of Health; there may be discrepancies due to a delay in communications between the facilities and the state:

  • The Evergreens, Moorestown: 9 cases, 1 death
  • Clare Estate Assisted Living, Bordentown: 5 cases, 1 death
  • Brightview Mt. Laurel: 5 cases, 1 death
  • New Lisbon Developmental Center, 75 cases, 2 deaths
  • CareOne at Evesham Assisted Living: 15 cases, 2 deaths
  • Virtua Health and Rehabilitation Center at Mount Holly: 40 cases, 3 deaths
  • Cambridge Rehabilitation and Health Center: 11 cases, 3 deaths
  • Marcella Center, Burlington Township: 23 cases, 4 deaths
  • Masonic Village at Burlington: 59 cases, 5 deaths
  • Laurel Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Mount Laurel: 32 cases, 5 deaths
