Burlington Twp. Detective Dies Unexpectedly
Detective Steven Cosmo was 29-years-old when he died on Sunday, according to a Facebook post by the Burlington Township Police Department.
BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Detective Steven Cosmo of the Burlington Township Police Department died unexpected on Sunday, the Burlington Township Police Department announced on its Facebook page.
"We send our condolences to [Detective] Cosmo’s loved ones," the post read. "Please keep [Detective] Cosmo’s family, the Burlington [Township Police Department] and the entire community in your thoughts and prayers. We honor [Detective] Cosmo’s memory and thank him for his service to our country and community," the post continued.
Cosmo had been with that particular police department since 2014, according to the post. He was recognized as Officer of the Year in 2016, was a Field Training Officer and member of the Bicycle Patrol Unit and assigned to the Detective Bureau where he served until his death, according to the post.

Prior to joining the Burlington Township Police Department, Cosmo had served with the U.S. Marine Corps, the post read.
Det. Cosmo was 29.

No cause of Cosmo's death and no funeral arrangements for him were mentioned in the post.
